Who Should You Write For? Them or Yourself
The simple way to find your target audience.
“Nobody cares about you; you should write for your audience.” This is the most common advice every writer gives a newbie.
But the biggest question is, as a newbie, you don’t even know who your audience is.
So, how would you write for someone who doesn't even exist in your brain?
I'm a new writer……I need a niche. Oh, wait, what about target audience, my branding?
Too much of a pressure.
I've got a better solution.
Leave all this behind.
And here's the biggest advice.
Write for your past self.
A story that connects your present and past self is the best form of storytelling.
When you write an experience, you don’t write for someone else. You describe that to yourself ( but your past version )
Because you've done it. You come far, and now you need to write about that experience.
This past self will be your audience.
The people who still haven't taken that one action. ( but you did )
The person you were 3 months ago. Some people are still there and…
